In
the Field, near Hatchers, VA., August 24, 1864.
I.
The Third New Hampshire Volunteers having been left by the death of Lieutenant-Colonel Plimpton,
killed in action at Fussell’s Mill, VA, without a field officer present, Major. James F. Randlett of that regiment,
at his own request, relieved from duty as provost-marshal at these headquarters and will report for duty with his regiment.
II.
Capt. J. E. Sweet, Twentieth Indiana Volunteers, acting Aide-de- Camp, is hereby announced as provost-marshal at these headquarters.
Major Randlett will turn over to him all orders and instructions relative to the duties of the office.
