On July 28th, 1865 the Third New Hampshire Volunteers were mustered out of the U. S. Army service. Co. C was one the largest companies within the Third at that time. When the mustering out service was over the men of the Third went back home to New Hampshire. As they marched away their hearts were with the ones who died in service and are buried away from home.
