If you look back on the families of that time they played an important role. During the American Civil War that every person was effected in some way or another. These effects last for generations to come and still to this day it still has effects on our nation. Families during the Civil War did everything from making uniforms, cooking, caring for the wounded and dying, making war goods and even taking up arms. The families of the Civil War were very special people and that shows in the 3rd NHV/22nd SC today. Not only are they wives, daughters, sons, brothers, girlfriends or mothers, but they have full time careers too. A soldier was to have said "If it wasn't far my family I wouldn't be live to defend my home". And I am very positive that the first thought of every soldier, North and South was of their family back home when they were faced with the trails and tribulations of the War.
